Holy Smokes it’s episode 80 already! Yay! Episode 80 is a pretty cool milestone. It’s nowhere near as many as a lot of our contemporary podcasts, but it’s also nothing to slouch at. What does it matter, we’re here! And boy am I glad to be here and very excited to share with you our guests for this episode 80 of the DOD45 Show. Our guests on this episode are Slugghead. We’re not having’em on cuz they’re our children though, cuz that would be lame, were having’em on because they have an album coming out on Dec. 29th and they’re performing it live for their album release show on December 28th at The Beehive venue inside of Mark of the Beastro in Salt Lake City, UT. Soul & Nalei join us to discuss their music, their upcoming show and where their inspirations to create, what they call, avant grade music. We realize how bizarre it is to have our children on our podcast to talk about their music, but when you see and hear these two, you’ll realize that “bizarre” equals comfort zone. They have been traveling with us to art shows all across the world since the day they were born and they’ve been witness to more things than most people in the back nine of their lives, so we talk about some of their first & favorite concerts they went, they’re beginnings as musicians and they also have the chance to air their grievances with how we raised them and dragged them all across the country for art shows. It’s a quick episode and I think you’ll be surprised just how fun our conversation is and I also think when you get just a taste of their music you’re going to wish you lived in Utah so you could attend their show on the 28th. Our guest this week is the delightful, the talented, the bottom-feeding media’s current punching bag, Taryn Manning!!! You heard me right, Taryn Manning. No she’s not a typical DOD45 guest, if there is such a thing, but we linked up with Taryn many months back due to her appearance in Atmosphere’s Okay music video and we’ve been planning to hang with her on the show since then. Who knew she was gonna break the internet with her comments about ‘Gold Juice’ on the Whitney Cummings podcast and who knew she was gonna get caught up in some “very interesting” Instagram drama….not us and certainly not her. But here’s what can be said in this intro, if you’re lookin’ to Troll this episode, by all means, but ya better watch the whole damn episode before you cherry pick. I don’t think you’re gonna have much to troll anyway, because Taryn is an absolute delight and we have an excellent discussion with her, while I draw her a Rhino gettin’ his revenge against the man. We share a mutual love of animals and Taryn mentions in this episode how she relates to the remarkable creature we humans call a Rhinoceros. I had a slew of our typical Sophie’s Choice questions in the cue & an entire line-up of questions I intended to ask of Taryn & probably only got to one of’em…What does that mean? That means, it was such an organic and interesting conversation that I didn’t have time to get to any of those questions, however Sage Francis did drop in for the Sage’s Social Media Lurk to ask Taryn about a social media post from 2012, cuz all you bottom feeders out there have lurked her current social media ad naseum, but Sage uncovers something that leads to a conversation with Taryn about Doin’ a number 2, dropping’ a deuce, laying’ pipe, laying bricks, aka pooping, a thing most all of us do but none of us made a mini-series out of like Taryn did. I also introduce an old game from when I was a kid Called MASH, and we tell Taryn’s future in an alternate life. He’s an underground rapper of the Machina Muerte family and the other half of one of my current favorites, A7PHA….a group that I’m willing to call a Super-Duo, of which Mestizo shares emcee duties with the legendary Doseone. We have a nice chill conversation with 'Stizo, talking’ bout A7PHA’s recent release, entitled Many Headed, (a brilliant EP). We also briefly chat about his coming from a long lineage of gangsters, including a gangsta grandma and he tells us a chilling experience he personally had with the spirit world. We also learn that Mestizo has a huge collection of quote, unquote “old-man” clothes and he tells the tale of a time he was on tour with Mopes and he told a Texas patrolman that they were a christian rap group that did rap for Christ to avoid getting a ticket. You’re never gonna guess who we’re chattin’ with for this episode 73 of The DOD45 Show. When I say never, I mean never….I’ll end the suspense. Our guests this week are James Warren Jones aka The Reverend Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple and the controversially titled artist Edward Theodore Gein aka The Butcher of Plainfield…Say What? That’s gonna make for a dumpster fire of an episode. But in actuality, our guests this week are the dubiously mental Mr. Dibbs & his comrade in innovative musical experiences, Brett Fullerton, together known as INIM E.G. A secretive, but no so complex, moniker for their union. Come to think of it, with the revelation of the actual guests, there's still potential for a dumpster fire. You’re gonna find out. We recorded this discussion the day before Halloween, so in the spirit of the holiday, Dibbs and Fullerton turned up in full garb. On this episode I draw Mr. Dibbs a long anticipated concept of his, which none of his other artist homies were willing to touch, The fabulous Sir Elton John Wayne Gacy. When conversing with a mass murderer & a serial killer, it seemed to be the appropriate time to tackle a concept like this. As far as what to expect from this episode content-wise, it’s anybody’s guess. What I can tell you is that Sage Francis pops in for his Sage’s Social Media Lurk to question Dibbs about the infamous moment that Dibbs recorded himself smuggling a razor onto an airplane under his tongue. And mysteriously we have 2 different people claiming to be Mr. Dibbs, calling in with a question for the Question From Dibbs segment. We always have a great time hanging with these 2, and it’s not nonsense, our purpose is to also promote the 2nd 7” record of the 3 part series that I’ve done the cover art for. Limited presales of this album, of which I cannot pronounce the name of, are now being taken. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing it and it’s as you’d expect. Pure fire. And if I’m being honest, I’m quite happy with how the artwork turned out for the cover. Each album also comes with the 2nd limited edition print that lines up with the print from album 1 and they’ll unite with the 3rd 7” record when it comes out. Like some Voltron shit right there. This is another fun one. We’re in our 70’s with episode 71 of the DOD45 Show & our guest this week joins us from all the way over in England. Buddy is the In-house DJ for Strange Famous records, a megamix, finger drumming phenom and we are buzzing we had a chance to have a chat with him. We get into his music & even get a glimpse of his process in creating his Miles Davis mega mix Sons of Bitches, a complete dismantling & reconfiguring of the albums Bitches Brew & On the Corner in the style of Buddy which results in a phenomenal audible experience. We also play out a scenario of potential actors to play roles in the Buddy Peace Biopic, will it be Nick Nolte or Nick Cage to play Father Peace, will it be Nick Frost or Nick Offerman to play Scroobius Pip & who will get the honor of playing Buddy, Tom Hiddleston or Tom Hardy? It’s episode 70 of the DOD45 show and our special guest for this episode is Carnage the Executioner. A rapper, emcee, beatboxer, music-maker, teacher, you name it. He hails from the Twin Cities and we’re glad to have him on the show. Carnage is a Transformers, the cartoon, fan, so on this episode ArtByTai draws him a Transformers themed piece with a dash of Tom & Jerry, the Flintstones and a tiger. In the intro of this episode, Adrienne & Tai recap their experience at the Atmosphere Red Rocks show thanks to the invite from Mr. Dibbs. And with Carnage, some names to come up are Terrell Owens, Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, & Tiger Woods, which also leads to a conversation about how the father figures of The Jacksons, The Williams Sisters & Tiger Woods, shaped the professionals they became & whether that was a good thing or a bad thing. Carnage also reveals that he is in the process of branching out from The Executioner moniker and is moving into the era of Terrell-X. He also discusses that he’s interested in expanding his talents with things like learning how to scratch and even play the guitar. Mr. Dibbs appears on episode to present a question to Carnage from a random old lady off the streets of Cincinnati for the much-anticipated return of the Question from Dibbs segment. They also have a good discussion about one of Tai's favorites, comedian and beatboxer billed as The Man of 10,000 Sound Effects, Michael Winslow and they also discuss Carnage’s experience working with Aesop Rock on the track “Tuff” from Aesop’s The Impossible Kid album. All of that and some revelations during The Dish segment, make this a very satisfying episode. Massively prolific rapper, 2Mex, with the Visionaries, Of Mexican Decent and The Shape Shifters, also legitimately affiliated with Project Blowed, sits in for a discussion with Tai & Adrienne on episode 68 of The DOD45 Show. On this episode  @ArtByTai  draws  @2mextv992  his portrait with a mashup of Mister Mxyzptlk & Frankenhooker while they discuss how dope 2Mex's fan-base is, how important his friends were in his recovery from the loss of his leg due to complications with diabetes and how he manages to stay so positive at the face of adversity. 2Mex also squeezes a flex on us regarding his Jeopardy knowledge & they discuss the recent crowd-funded campaign to help him get a much-needed new prosthetic leg.
