Doug Davis, a dog trainer in California with the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA and Petco shares some tips on keeping your dogs safe and relaxed during the holidays.

In this episode:

Some of Doug’s top tips for keeping your dog safe during the holidays include:

Be proactive by working with your dog now so they are ready for the holidays.

Greeting guests can be overwhelmingly exciting for your dog resulting in jumping.  Be proactive and start working with your dog now so when guests arrive your dog is fully trained.

Have a quiet space where your dog can relax and be alone during large gatherings.

It’s fine to get a puppy for Christmas as long as you have thought it through and are prepared for a long term commitment.

Get your dog used to the decorations like tinsel so they are not reactive when you put them on the tree.
