What if it wasn’t really suicide?

What if it wasn’t really suicide?
What if it wasn’t really suicide?Hello, I’m Jay Nicoll of Nicoll Investigation and this is Ontario Cold Cases - Canada’s True Crime Podcast. Imagine this: a promising young man, John Connelly, 22 years old, with a glowing future ahead of him. A third-year pharmacy student at the University of Toronto, he was not just academically driven but also an accomplished athlete—former co-captain of the hockey team at Ottawa’s elite Ashbury College and recipient of its top award for athletics and academics. Then, on a frigid December morning in 2001, John’s lifeless body was found sprawled on the icy pavement outside his 10-storey apartment on Toronto’s Walmer Road.At first glance, the scene whispered “suicide.” But not to his parents.John was found face-up, broken but oddly composed. His gloves were snugly on, his jacket zipped to the neck, and a toque covered his head. Except... John never wore gloves. He never zipped his jacket. And that toque? Not even a winter hat—it was a head cover from his golf club set, a peculiar accessory he’d never think to wear. The details screamed something was off. The Connelly’s couldn’t ignore the glaring inconsistencies, especially the deep bruise on his forehead. Forensic experts would later confirm that the injury couldn’t have been caused by the fall alone. His parents were convinced of a darker truth: John was attacked in his apartment, knocked unconscious, and staged to look like he had jumped—or worse, fallen—from the rooftop. The question that haunts them, and anyone who looks closely, remains: if the scene was so meticulously crafted, who was behind it, and why? The answers, it seems, lie somewhere in the chilling gap between perception and reality—a gap wide enough to swallow the truth whole.Ontario Cold Cases – Canada’s True Crime Podcast. Join us each week, as we try to unravel and answer these questions to murders that have never been solved, and don’t forget to subscribe with new episodes daily wherever you listen to your favourite podcasts.Ontario Cold Cases - Wordpresshttps://nicollinvestigations.wordpress.com/For more videos subscribe to: https://www.youtube.com/@OntarioColdCases?sub_confirmation=1@PlayMorePods#OntarioColdCases, #NicollInvestigations , #canadiancrime , #ColdCasePodcast , #ontariocrime, #OntarioMysteries , #PodcastMystery , #truecrimepodcast , #unsolvedmysteries, #ontario, #TrueCrimeCanada, #TrueCrimeOntario, #CanadianMysteries, #canada, #truecrime, #PodcastsOnAmazonMusic, #Murder, #Homicide, #JohnConnelly, #Suicide, #WhatIfItWasntReallySuicide,

"What if it wasn’t really suicide?" - John Connelly Trailer
Ontario Cold Cases - Canada's True Crime Podcast: New Episode Premieres Sunday, December 8"What if it wasn’t really suicide?"This week, Ontario Cold Cases dives into the puzzling death of 22-year-old John Connelly—a promising University of Toronto pharmacy student and former co-captain of Ashbury College's hockey team. Accomplished, athletic, and driven, John was found lifeless on December 9, 2001, in the parking lot outside his 10-story apartment on Walmer Road, Toronto. The official conclusion: suicide. But for his parents, the evidence never added up.John was discovered wearing gloves, a zipped-up jacket, and a "toque" that turned out to be a golf club head cover—completely out of character, according to his family and friends. They insist he never wore gloves, never zipped his jacket, and certainly wouldn’t have mistaken a head cover for a hat.More troubling is the large bruise on John’s forehead—a detail experts say couldn't have been caused by a fall from the roof. His parents believe John was attacked in his apartment, knocked unconscious, and later staged on the rooftop before being dumped. With fresh insights into how false evidence can mislead investigators, this episode asks: what really happened to John Connelly? Was his death a tragic oversight or something far more sinister?Join us this Sunday for an in-depth look at this haunting case, only on Ontario Cold Cases - Canada's True Crime Podcast.Tune in wherever you listen to podcasts. London’s Forgotten Nightmare: The Chilling Mystery of Jack the Stripper - Part 1Welcome to Ontario Cold Cases: Canada’s True Crime Podcast—the show that dives headfirst into the murkiest depths of unsolved mysteries, where every twist keeps you guessing and every detail sends a shiver down your spine. Today we’re taking you across the pond to the foggy streets of 1960s London, where a shadowy figure known only as Jack the Stripper left an indelible mark of terror.Yes, you heard that right—Jack the Stripper. The name may sound quirky, but there’s nothing funny about this nightmare. Between 1959 and 1965, this cold-blooded killer prowled the streets of West London, targeting sex workers in a spree of murders that baffled Scotland Yard and terrified the public. Over six years, eight women were found dead—strangled, stripped, and dumped in various locations across the city. The gruesome details? Missing teeth. Paint flecks on the bodies. A killer who vanished without leaving a trace. Why the nickname? Well, much like his Victorian predecessor, Jack the Ripper, our modern-day villain preyed on vulnerable women under cover of darkness. The press couldn’t resist the parallel, and the name stuck. But while Jack the Ripper’s brutality was marked by mutilation, Jack the Stripper’s signature was disturbingly precise: petite victims, no signs of struggle, and the strange industrial paint clue that led nowhere.By the time Scotland Yard connected the dots after his third victim, the city was in a frenzy. Was it a gangster with a sinister secret? A disturbed factory worker hiding in plain sight? Or someone even more chilling? Despite an exhaustive investigation, the killer slipped away like a ghost, leaving behind a legacy of fear—and one of London’s greatest unsolved mysteries.Join us for Part 1 of: Jack the Stripper, where we’ll unravel the tragic stories of the victims, and explore the eerie parallels between London’s two most infamous Jacks.Don’t miss it—subscribe now to Ontario Cold Cases: Canada’s True Crime Podcast wherever you get your podcasts.
