What Came Next

Broken Cycle Media

What happens after the experiences of true crime survivors have been shared with the world? Does the media truly capture all it entails to survive such tragedy in the public eye? What comes after the convictions are in, the cameras stop rolling, and the court of public opinion has spoken? Can sharing our stories lead to justice, and is there ever really justice? These questions and many more are discussed on the new true crime docuseries podcast brought to you by Broken Cycle Media (https://www.brokencyclemedia.com/) . What Came Next (http://www.instagram.com/whatcamenext_podcast) is co-created and produced by Something Was Wrong (http://www.somethingwaswrong.com) ’s Tiffany Reese and host, award-winning writer, victim advocate and true crime survivor Amy B. Chesler (http://www.amybchesler.com) . On What Came Next (http://www.instagram.com/whatcamenext_podcast) , you’ll hear firsthand accounts from those impacted, with behind the scenes insights about what came next for survivors after their stories were shared with the world, and how the media impacts crime victims and their loved ones. read less

75: [WCN Presents] SWW S11 E11 Updates
Content Warning: sexual assault, rape, child sexual abuse, nonconsensual pornography, and suicidal ideation. Season 11, Episode 11 of Something Was Wrong entitled [Dara] Very Sorry, first aired on February 23rd, 2023. The episode poignantly shared Dara’s account of a sexual assault she experienced while on her Spring Break Senior trip. However, her heartache did not end there though. Years later, after Dara had become a mother and began to cultivate her own healing journey, her sister experienced a similar trauma. From that moment on, Dara was compelled to share their stories in hopes of changing the criminal justice landscape for other survivors. Although Something Was Wrong was the first public space she shared, her efforts have not slowed down at all. The Broken Cycle Media team is incredibly grateful for Dara’s time, energy, legislative efforts, and for sharing with our audience all that’s come next in her battle to change the statute of limitations for Indiana survivors of sexual assault. She set out on a mission geared towards awareness, treatment, and prevention of child-to-family - and more specifically child-to-caregiver - violence. Her efforts have included the establishment of the very first American-based child-to-parent violence Awareness Day in several counties in Michigan, and her goal is to establish a nationwide awareness day. The Broken Cycle Media team is extremely grateful for this advocate interview with Tabatha, as well as all of her time, expertise, and related work.
