Bible Study - Acts 17
CHAPTER 17 describes Paul's second missionary journey, where he and Silas travel through Galatia in modern-day Asia Minor, visiting the churches Paul and Barnabas established in their first journey. They found a young man named Timothy and brought him along. The chapter describes Paul preaching in Thessalonica, Berea, and Athens. In Athens, Paul addresses the Areopagus and speaks of the "unknown god" and the resurrection of Christ to the Greeks . He tells them that God is the Creator of all things and that He is not far from any of us. Some people believe, but others do not, and Paul moves on to Corinth. The chapter also mentions that the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace and set all the city in an uproar in Thessalonica. The charge against Paul was that he was saying there is another king, Jesus, and acting contrary to the decrees of Caesar. This accusation troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city.
