RISK! is a podcast that manages to combine the best of comedic storytelling with a risky component.
The premise behind RISK! is a simple but effective one. The podcast allows comedians and storytellers to do what they do best—tell stories. (The show is not connected to Risk, the Hasbro game.)
However, not every kind of story can appear on this podcast. The stories on RISK! are embarrassing. They are not the kind of stories one would ever think of telling out loud, especially to strangers.
Veteran comedian, actor, and writer Kevin Allison created RISK! He is also the host. Allison has shared the stage with several comedy icons over the years. He is best known for his work with the sketch comedy group The State. The troupe had a TV show that ran for two seasons on MTV. Many of its alums have gone on to produce well-known comedy projects. These include Thomas Lennon, Ben Garant, and Kerri Kenney-Silver from Reno 911. And alums David Wain and Michael Showalter have become two of the most sought-after directors in Hollywood today.
On RISK!, he allows his famous friends to share often hilarious stories. Sean O'Brien, David Crabb, and even Kumail Nanjiani have appeared on the podcast. Because Allison has been performing comedy for decades, he has made many friends in the industry. Therefore, listeners cannot be certain of who will appear on the podcast. There are many surprises here.
Performers on RISK! may discuss their sex life, or how they "met on the net" with a person and it did not go as planned. These true stories are often raunchy but also have a lot of heart. In some cases, they allow listeners to see some of their favorite performers in a new way.
RISK! releases new episodes on Monday of each week.
