Social Justice and You
02-05-2023
Social Justice and You
At its core, social justice is about creating a society that is fair and equitable for everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, or socioeconomic status. It's about addressing the root causes of inequality and working to dismantle the systems that perpetuate it. This can involve a wide range of efforts, including policy changes, grassroots activism, and community organizing.-Social justice is important because it helps ensure that everyone has access to the resources, opportunities, and protections that they need to thrive. When we live in a society that is unjust and unequal, certain groups of people are unfairly disadvantaged, while others are unfairly advantaged. This can create a cycle of poverty, oppression, and discrimination that is difficult to break.-This is our topic for todays episode. You might be a Bad Driver if…
We all know that one person that claims to be an excellent driver - until you get in their car, of course. While it may be hard to gain the courage to tell someone that their driving is, well, not great… We believe we have found a solution that can get someone to realize how dangerous they can be on the roads.-According to Insure.com, 87% of bad drivers believe that it is okay to speed, go through stop signs, and break other driving rules and regulations as long as no one gets hurt. While it is advised to be confident on the roads, it is always important to follow driving rules and regulations. The more we follow the rules as a collective, the safer for everyone.-This is our topic for todays episode. The Truth about Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency is one of the most hotly debated global financial topics today. In 2013, Forbes named Bitcoin (BTC) the year's best investment. In 2014, Bloomberg countered with its proclamation of Bitcoin being the year's worst investment. From the early days of the FBI shutting down the dark-net black market to the Securities and Exchange Commission approving ProShares Bitcoin Strategy (ticker: BITO), the first Bitcoin ETF, in Oct 2021, cryptocurrency has had an exciting and volatile history. -Here are some of the highlights of Bitcoin's (and Cryptocurrency as a whole) relatively history that we will talk about it this episode.-This is our topic for todays episode. Giving your word is your Honor
27-04-2023
Giving your word is your Honor
There is very little in this world that you can control. You cannot control other people, you can’t control what others think of you, you can’t control what decisions other people make and you can’t control how other people think. You can, however, control what you choose to say and you should choose your words very carefully.-When you tell someone that you are going to do something, you should follow-through and do that thing unless some outrageous emergency prevents you from doing so. And, if something urgent comes up, you should immediately let those who are depending on you know that you will not be able to come through with what you said you were going to.-When you repeatedly say you are going to do this or that, but you rarely follow-through, people will learn that they can’t really trust you and you will lose their respect.-This is our topic for todays episode. Can’t do anything about it if you ain’t around…

Can’t do anything about it if you ain’t around…
A few years ago, I was lost. Frustrated. Scared. Unsure. Anxious. Trapped. Unfulfilled. Stuck in a dead-end job. Smothered by society’s expectations. Didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do with my life.-I cared for myself enough to change my life, but I didn’t have the slightest clue where to start. I spent my days wishing that things would change—that I could escape a life that my soul could no longer bear.-The worst part of all, I was living the life that society had always told me to live. “Find a secure job, work hard,” they would say. “Get a solid job and work your way up the ladder.”-I don’t know about you, but it turns out that for me, the “right thing to do” sucked the joy out of life.-Imagine feeling trapped in an unsatisfying existence. Wasting your precious time doing things that you really don’t want to be doing. Being afraid to express your uniqueness. Having fun on the weekends then dreading the upcoming week. Maybe you don’t have to imagine it; maybe your life is just like mine was, few moments of satisfaction drowned out by a constant grind of work that doesn’t fulfill you.-Then something hit me. It was a proverbial hammer to my head. I’d heard it before, but it had never sunk in. Then, as if out of nowhere, a voice in my head spoke loudly and clearly.-You can choose to try remodeling the world, or you can start by changing your reaction to it.-This is our topic for todays episode. Problems with the North American education system
20-04-2023
Problems with the North American education system
Deficits in government funding for schools. Funding is always an issue for schools and is, in fact, one of the biggest issues facing the American public education system today. For more than 90% of K-12 schools, funding comes from state and local governments, largely generated by sales and income taxes.-This as well as other issues are definitely effecting the North American level of education and probably others in the world. What we are seeing though is lack of intelligence and common sense in society with moronic decisions. -This is our topic for todays episode. What is this ChatGPT?
19-04-2023
What is this ChatGPT?
ChatGPT - Simply put, it's an AI language model that can understand and generate human-like text. It's built on the GPT-3.5 architecture, which is a deep learning model that's been trained on a massive dataset of text from the internet. This means that ChatGPT can understand and generate language in a way that's almost indistinguishable from human speech.-This is our topic for todays episode. Why is the news always bad news?
18-04-2023
Why is the news always bad news?
In the movie Broadcast News, the protagonist Jane Craig (Holly Hunter) has a routine every morning. At an appointed time, she sits and weeps profusely for a minute. When the minute’s done, she wipes her face and goes about her day without showing outward signs of sadness.-Some news consumers have surrendered to the phenomenon and find themselves hooked on “doomscrolling,” in journalist Karen Ho’s memorable term, proceeding between articles asking if the war in Ukraine could be World War III, or whether another world-destabilizing pandemic could be on the way, or if we’ve already passed key climate tipping points. At least some news consumers aren’t too happy about the situation. An international survey from Oxford’s Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism last year found that in almost every country surveyed, trust in media is falling, and more people are saying they’re avoiding news. Why? Because, respondents say, it “has a negative effect on their mood.”-So … why are we like this? Are journalists just a miserable lot who insist on spreading their neuroses to the rest of the world? Are readers, despite their protestations to the contrary, likelier to click on news that’s negative or dire?-It’s, of course, both, and the supply- and demand-side reasons might come from the same source. Humans, it turns out, have what social psychologists call a “negativity bias”: We tend to pay more attention to bad-seeming information than good-seeming information. That could be a root factor for why the news is so goddamned depressing. That’s what we’re looking for.-This is our topic for todays episode. Tomorrow is another Day to try Again...

Tomorrow is another Day to try Again...
The phrase “tomorrow is another day” means the future comes with new opportunities and chances. It also refers to hope that governs our life; it brings a fresh start for one’s endeavors.-The phrase “tomorrow is another day” is said to have its initial use in a journal, Harper’s Weekly, published in 1857, where it is stated as; “…never losing sight of that, to him, great and glorious fact, that “tomorrow is another day.”-Later, Margaret Mitchell used in her war novel, Gone with the Wind, published in 1936, where it is stated as; “Scarlett O’Hara: “Tara. Home. I’ll go home, and I’ll think of some way to get him back. After all, tomorrow is another day.” Since then, it has been used by various authors in almost the same sense but in different words and forms.-This is our topic for todays episode. It is Not about the Tools; it is about the Know How...

It is Not about the Tools; it is about the Know How...
What you have isn’t made worse by the introduction of something better. I test a lot of tools all the time. And if there is one thing this has taught me — more than anything else — it is that it is most certainly not about the tools. That’s odd to hear from someone who spends a lot of time telling you which tools are the best — whether it be apps, knives, bags, etc — but it is true. It’s just not about the tools.-First and foremost, it is about having just enough in your tools to do the work.-But this isn’t an episode about how to do the work, or make the time — nothing like that at all. This is an article to ask you to stop saying “X app will make you a better Y”, or “I can’t do Y task, without X tool”.-I can open an Amazon box without a knife and so can you. It’s just a hell of a lot easier with a knife — but not always faster. (There are many times I could open the package in less time than it takes to go get my knife and then open it.)-This is our topic for todays episode. Sex addiction is a Thing

Sex addiction is a Thing
Sex addiction refers to excessive sexual thoughts, desires, urges or behaviors that can’t be controlled and cause distress and harm to your relationships, finances and other aspects of your life. Sexual addiction is also called hypersexuality, compulsive sexual behavior and other names. Treatments include medications, psychotherapy and self-help support groups.-The rate of sex addiction may be increasing due to increased access to sexual material, including pornography, apps devoted to hookups and sexual topics on the internet. A study found that 4.7 million U.S. adults spend up more than 11 hours per week looking at pornography online.-People often wonder if only men are affected by sex addiction. While it's more common in men, women also can be addicted. Women may have a more difficult time finding help due to stigma, and they're outnumbered by men in self-help groups.-This is our topic for todays episode. 8 Historical Facts Everyone Knows (That Never Happened or Existed)
Not everything you believe in is a lie — just some parts of it. History is weird. There are so many historical facts, people, events, and objects that everybody knows about.-Yet, none of them are real. That’s the thing about history. If you come up with a really good bull**** story that really takes off, hundreds of years later people will still keep repeating it — and thinking it’s real.-Here’s a collection of some historical facts you may have even learned in school, yet never existed at all.-This is our topic for todays episode. How many of your neighbors do you know?

How many of your neighbors do you know?
More than a third of people are unable to recognize their neighbors, and communities are a thing of the past, says a recent survey.-Fewer than half of American adults know most or all of their neighbors. When survey respondents were asked if they knew the names of the neighbors who live close to them, 19% of adults said they knew all of their neighbors. Another 24% said they knew most of their neighbors. This left the majority of American adults knowing only some (29%) or none (28%) of their neighbors by name. These numbers are little changed from the last time the question was asked in July 2008. Previous research by the Pew Internet & American Life Project has shown no correlation between internet use and contact with neighbors. In fact, Americans who go online daily are more likely than non-internet users to know some of their neighbors by name.-Is it normal to only know 5 people on your street? Or even one for that matter? How many of your neighbors do you know?-This is our topic for todays episode. Ever Change your Ways when you Experience Climate Change?

Ever Change your Ways when you Experience Climate Change?
Global climate change is not a future problem. Changes to Earth’s climate driven by increased human emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases are already having widespread effects on the environment: glaciers and ice sheets are shrinking, river and lake ice is breaking up earlier, plant and animal geographic ranges are shifting, and plants and trees are blooming sooner.-Effects that scientists had long predicted would result from global climate change are now occurring, such as sea ice loss, accelerated sea level rise, and longer, more intense heat waves.-The effects of human-caused global warming are happening now, are irreversible for people alive today, and will worsen as long as humans add greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. We already see effects scientists predicted, such as the loss of sea ice, melting glaciers and ice sheets, sea level rise, and more intense heat waves.-Scientists predict global temperature increases from human-made greenhouse gases will continue. Severe weather damage will also increase and intensify.-What changes are you making? If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.-This is our topic for todays episode.
