The two hosts are roommates in real life. So their friendship comes through in the series. Each episode of the Spooked! podcast is different and the same at the same time. Damien and Cody tell a new tale that they made up on the spot. They take turns narrating different parts of the story. The hosts add in details and story changes as they go along. Listeners never know what direction each episode will take or how it will end.

Cody once had a YouTube series called Deep Tub. In it, he interviewed people while sitting in his bathtub. This show has a similar goofy sensibility. Cody explained in an interview the idea behind the Spooked! podcast. He said he "wanted to do an old-school radio play." But, he joked, he said he "realized [he] didn't want to write it." That's how the show was born.
Spooked! has many special guests to join in on the fun. Past guests include Alessandra Vite, Aurora Brown, and Dean Young. Most episodes last around an hour or more.
