Mackenzie Mgbako decision set for Friday, Julian Phillips as potential Hoosiers transfer target

The Mackenzie Mgbako transfer saga will come to an end on Friday as his decision between the Indiana Hoosiers and Kansas Jayhawks will come at the start of the weekend. Plus, the Indiana women's basketball team made a big announcement, Julian Phillips could be the Hoosiers latest transfer target and Taryn Kern takes home Big Ten Player of the Year as IU readies for the conference tournament.

On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) gives the latest update on Mgbako's recruitment, which will come to an end on Friday at an undesignated time. The IU women's basketball program, meanwhile, announced the sale of season tickets for next season with reserved seats as well as other changes to parking and the student section.

As a potential backup option should the Hoosiers miss out on Mgbako, Indiana could look at Julian Phillips, a Tennessee Volunteers transfer who entered the portal on Wednesday. As one of the first players to receive a scholarship offer from Mike Woodson and his staff in 2021, the connections are there between the two sides.

The show wraps by looking at the Big Ten softball awards, highlighted by Kern winning Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, the latter unanimously. Indiana is set to kick off their tournament against Penn State as they look to keep momentum rolling before entering the NCAA Tournament.
