Many real estate investors prefer to be passive and avoid the many responsibilities of owning and managing properties. You can do this by becoming a limited partner in a syndication, which affords you the tax benefits and profit participation of owning real estate, without the headaches of actually taking care of the investment. But investing in a syndication as a limited partner can be a daunting task. How do you know if you can trust the operator, understand the asset class, or even make a profit when all is said and done.
