She is a fierce advocate and practitioner of centering the joy and knowledge of Black, Brown, and Queer children. In the fall, she will begin a Ph.D program at Stanford University in Race, Inequality, and Language in Education. Shana’s education journey and journey within the field of education has taken her from UW Madison, the TRIP -Teaching Residency Internship Program- in Chicago, Kindergarten classroom teacher, first grade classroom teacher for 10 years, and prek for 5 years. Shana also served on her schools ILT for 12 years as well as the Network 11 ‘E11evator’ acting as a liaison between the Network and schools- presenting Literacy PD for other first grade teachers.
